Those of us at the Rensselaer County Legislature and many working in county government can be counted as animal lovers. Once again, the Legislature is coordinating an effort to collect food, toys, blankets and others materials for animals at the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society in Menands, a shelter that provides service in our county.
Materials for dogs and cats can be left off in the third floor lobby of the County Office Building, located at 1600 7th Avenue, downtown Troy. It is expected that the collection effort will run until December 20, and the materials then presented to the Humane Society.
The collection for the Humane Society is again being coordinated by Linda Golden, a staff member of the legislative Majority office. Linda started the collection effort several years ago, and each year the collection of food, toys, blankets and other materials has grown. The collection is a help to the Humane Society, which operates on a tight budget and does very valuable and necessary work.
Residents are certainly invited to participate in the collection, and can drop items off at the third floor lobby of the County Office Building. Thank you.
